Medium & the Message: Please help me out…what kind of bird is this?

    I'm no expert and it's hard to tell from the video but I think it's a "Northern Cardinal"

    Yup, Bill's right. That's the Northern Cardinal. I get them in my backyard all the time. What you filmed is the male. The female is alittle more brownish in colour than red.

    Definitely a cardinal!
    Not sure if there is a subspecies.

    Now time to do some reading to learn more about this wonderful creature :)

    That certainly is a cardinal! I live in MI, we used to see them all the time about 25ish years ago...much less frequently now though.
